SCORE, “Service Corps of Retired Executives,” is a nationwide, non-profit volunteer association with more than 12,000 retired and active business owners and executives. SCORE provides one-on-one counseling and mentoring, low-cost business-related workshops and FREE house calls to your business location to conduct business reviews. The Washington, D.C., area chapter has more than 50 expert volunteer members to assist you.

Entrepreneurship 101 Workshop. Bi-monthly virtual workshop that features a panel of small business experts on how to start a business. Presented by the FCEDA, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD), the Community Business Partnership (CBP) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the webinar provides an overview of business start-up fundamentals.

District Bridges

Access Point is an online learning platform that helps small businesses across DC grow and thrive. Main Street program staff are champions of providing targeted and comprehensive one-on-one technical assistance, learning sessions, and business needs workshops to the small businesses within their designated corridors. On the platform, entrepreneurs can learn about financial literacy, digital marketing, ecommerce, government compliance, real estate law, etc.

Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs Small Business Resource Center (SBRC)

The DCRA Small Business Resource Center (SBRC) staff provides one-on-one assistance with navigating through the process of starting a business. Sessions are held via phone or video conference. You will gain in-depth knoweldge of the regulatory process, registering with corporations (i.e. Limited Liability Company, Corporations, Non-Profit, etc.) and the basic steps of obtaining a business license. Additionally, you will receive assistance with the zoning application process (i.e. Certificate of Occupancy and/or Home Occupancy Permit).

Black Girl Ventures

BGV Connect. The BGV Connect Incubator is dedicated to the Black Girl Ventures' mission to accelerate 100,000 women to economic advancement via community, education, and leadership. The BGV Connect Incubator is for Black/Brown women-identifying entrepreneurs and business leaders who are innovating and dedicated to leveling up their vision, idea, or business. Perks of membership include peer mentoring, business referrals, funding opportunities, networking opportunities, feedback sesssions, etc.

Black Girl Ventures

BGV NextGen. The BGV NextGen Program was created for the next generation of Black and Brown entrepreneurs in mind attending HBCUs nationally. This experience will create access to capital, capacity, and community for student visionaries ranging from 18 to 24 years old.

Change Agent Fellowship. The Change Agent Fellowship by BGV is a totally unique 9-month leadership skills development program created specifically to expand the capacity of early-stage entrepreneurs and ecosystem builders to strengthen the ecosystems of Black/Brown women founders!
