A former art teacher, Rabih started her own business to teach in her unique way, and to create a space for writers traditionally in the margins of the literary world. In her teaching, she combines poetry with various other topics from yoga and meditation to mental health awareness. Rabih has created not only educational opportunities but also an authentic community, in which she helps people follow their passions through creativity.

Evie is the owner and operator of an African inspired skin business. Evie, born and raised in Kenya, struggled with cystic acne in her adult life. She developed her skin line because she found that natural oils from Africa were the only thing that worked. Through her discovery, she was able to heal her acne in 3 months. Evie's products are all sourced from Afro-rich natural products. She opes to continue expanding her business to continue providing not only skin therapy, but a home collection with scented candles and sprays as well.

Averjill supports family-forming via fertility, birth and postpartum doula services as well as offering employer family benefits consultations. She has always been heavily interested and involved in women's health, and after a career of over 15 years in the world of employer benefits, Averjill combined both areas of expertise to create a business that puts women and family benefits at the forefront.

Gwen has been building her women's jewelry business for over 10 years. She uses playful and bold accessories to ensure her looks make a statement. Gwen's experience as a long-time consumer first, and trained designer second - is the foundation of the collection today.

Beija-Flor Naturals

Stevonne is the founder of an organic skin and haircare company that was the first American beauty line to include fair trade, nutrient rich botanicals ingredients from Brazil. She suffered from a number of skin sensitivities, and at that time, there were very few natural skincare solutions for women of color, so Stevonne crafted her own products. This year she has pivoted to selling all products online, and hopes to continue expanding her brand as a lifestyle brand. Over the years her shop has supported and collaborated with 100+ independent artists, artisans and makers.

Hair by Sadiku

Tinika decided to set out on her own because she brings more than just skill with hair. She found she handle events, especially weddings, in a unique way that was genuinely beneficial to clients. She wanted to bring her personality and style to her own business, both making people feel comfortable and in good hands while styling their hair.

Michelle's company utilizes its bright, informative website to provide reliable information to uptown NYC parents. The website serves as a clearinghouse for news about local programming, opportunities, activities, and recreation for children. Uptown families rely on Michelle's reviews and tips to plan everything from enrichment classes and family weekends to summer camps and school choices.

The Christmus Corner

Tiffany absolutely loves Christmas, and started creating Christmas ornaments out of wood, glitter, and African fabrics. Growing up, she never saw People of Color represented in Christmas, and that’s something she wants to change. Her work features Black Santa, Black Angels with headwraps, among other designs. All her work is hand painted & decorated, and made from local woodcrafters.

My Beautiful Fluff

Brittany designs clothing with curves in mind. Her goal is to empower, motivate and encourage women to love themselves as they are. She sells shirts, hoodies and crewnecks from sizes L to 5XL, as well as other merchandise and accessories with messaging that encourages body positivity. With goals to grow and expand, Brittany is currently launching a storefront and a new line with even larger sizing in alignment with her mission of inclusivity.
